Through Mark Kilmer's post
on the subject I found a link to where Jason Coleman explains
how the burning Taliban bodies and the psyops initiative were two concurrent but separate things and he goes on to explore the backgrounds of the journalists covering the story. Most of us probably didn't know before that burning bodies that are starting to rot and can't be buried makes sense as a hygiene issue.
Thinking back on it, Muslims were not by and large offended by the treatment of Taliban bodies at Tora Bora, some of which were completely shredded by AC-130 gunfire. I doubt if any particular reverence was given in disposing of those and I don't think it was called for, anyway. The other side doesn't show any such special considerations.
